Small-space living can feel claustrophobic and overwhelming without the proper organizational systems in place. I can just feel my own frustration brewing as I write this. Thinking about all the times I’ve knocked over all my skin care, trying to reach something in the back of the cabinet. Or all the times I’ve had to pull out every pan in my cupboard just to use one of them to cook dinner. Now, here’s the thing: I’m not one to use the word “need” when I talk about product recommendations. It’s a strong word. But these three products have honestly been life-savers (or at least sanity-savers) for me. They’re all under $40 CAD as well, which is a very reasonable price to pay for said sanity. These are the three best space-saving products I have ever used and I know you will love them too!
(These are also frankly six of the least aesthetic photography moments on this entire blog. Enjoy.)
The Upright Pot + Pan Organizer
If you’re also tired of clanging around pots and pans like a madman every time you have to cook – this one’s for you, babe. This upright pot / pan organizer is the bee’s knees. No more stacks of baking sheets that you have to completely remove from your cupboard in order to access the one on the very bottom (i.e. the one you always happen to need). I am able to store all of my muffin tins, baking sheets, and stovetop cookware using this expandable system. It uses the limited horizontal and vertical space in my cupboard very efficiently. This upright organizer is completely adjustable and customizable to your specific needs. However wide your cupboard is; whatever size your pans are; however many pans you have – everything will sit securely in your cupboard with this one. Not to mention being way easier to access!
The Lazy Susan
I’ve raved about this addition to my bathroom organization before (in this post all about the best storage solutions for your tiny rental bathroom). It’s such a game-changer that it’s making its second appearance here today. I was tired of losing track of my skin care because I couldn’t see them all at a glance. Not to mention wasting valuable vertical space in my bathroom shelving for short little bottles of skin care, hair care, and body care. This acrylic Lazy Susan system of course spins 360 degrees for easy access and visibility; but it also has modular shelves. This means you can customize their heights for the particular products you need to store. It makes excellent use of vertical space and it can accommodate an impressive amount of bottles. It will honestly be one of the best purchases you’ll make for your apartment organization.
The Under-The-Sink Pull-Out Drawer System
The under-the-sink area in our kitchen was long the bane of my existence. Nothing was accessible and we couldn’t even store very much under there. It irked me every time I opened that lower cupboard. No longer. We bought two tall recycling bins (one for plastic/metal, one for cardboard/paper) from the dollar store, kept our little black garbage can, and bought this under-the-sink pull-out system. Game. Changer. It is two-tiered (with considerable space between the two for tall object to be stored on the bottom) and has grippy feet so it stays in place when pulling the sliding drawers in and out. It even comes with dividers and hooks for added organizational features. Now, all of our extra dish detergents, sponges, magic erasers, compost and garbage bags, and dish cloths all have a home. It is sincerely a delight to open these bottom cabinet doors now. You deserve to experience that delight too.
If you’re looking to up the organizational game in your own small apartment, these are officially your top three. I cannot imagine my own apartment without them and I would buy them again and again. My peace of mind has been transformed by implementing these and I know they’ll do the same for you!
Which of these three do you think would make the biggest difference to your own apartment?
